Dr. Eric Lewis grew up in Magnolia, MS (Pike County), and graduated from Parklane Academy in nearby McComb. He went on to earn his bachelor of science degree from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA in May 1985.
Dr. Lewis continued his education at the University of Mississippi School of Dentistry in Jackson, MS, where he earned his doctorate of dental medicine in May 1989, graduating Cum Laude. He then completed a four-year oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at the University of Cincinnati, where he received advanced training in anesthesia, orthognathic surgery, facial trauma, and dental implants. During his residency, he gained extensive experience treating a wide range of conditions affecting the mouth, teeth, jaws, and face. Dr. Lewis completed his residency in June 1993 and has received numerous honors throughout his academic journey.
After completing his residency, Dr. Lewis returned to his hometown in Pike County, MS. Later that same year, he and his wife, Lisa, established Southwest Center for Facial and Oral Surgery — the only oral and maxillofacial surgery center in South Mississippi. In addition to offering a full range of surgical services, Dr. Lewis has undergone specialized training in dental implant surgery. He collaborates closely with each patient's restorative dentist to ensure the highest quality outcomes and personalized care.
Dr. Lewis is a distinguished fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, as well as a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is also an active member of the American Dental Association, the Mississippi Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. Over the years, Dr. Lewis has held several leadership roles, including chief of staff and chief of surgery at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center and president of the Mississippi Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Dr. Lewis and his wife of 36 years, Lisa, have three children — Erica (Hebert), Regan (Theresa), and Seth — and one grandson, Lex. Together, they enjoy traveling, spending quality time with their loved ones, and relaxing by the saltwater whenever they can.
Everyone was so nice, professional and helpful. Dr. Lewis was kind and caring.. he explained what my next appointment would involve. That would be cutting out a left lower back tooth that my dentist was unable to pull. He spent time with me answering all my questions. I brought a list of meds I take, allergies and medical conditions. I was impressed that he took the time to look over all that and addressed the fact that I have an autoimmune dx. He told me that after the surgery he would give me meds for pain and start me on an antibiotic, just to be safe. Trying to reduce the chance of infection.Very pleased with my experience there!
